I’m so HAPPY! Feliz Navidad!

Guess what? My spanish teacher, along with two others, is in this program, to adopt hispanic families in need of clothes or toys for Christmas!  I’m in a group of friends who adopted, but the class also adopted a family. Sra. Maturen said she was really proud of us.  The group thing is not required, it’s if you want to. None of this is for points. This is just to give to those who need. I love it! I’ve always loved watching people open their presents on Christmas, it makes me happy! So, now, to be able to help some other kids, that really makes me happy.

My group’s family consists of a mother (Norma) and her three sons, an 18-year-old (Emmanuel), an 8-year-old (Michael), and a 6-year-old(Mario).  I have this nice hotwheels box thingie that carries cars in it…I’ll be giving that and most of the cars to the 6-year-old I think, for he wanted cars.  We’ve got both a boombox AND a CD player for Emmanuel, who asked for a CD player courtesy of Katie and Cat.  Katie bought gloves for the younger boys, and found a still useful coat in her house that’s no longer being used.  Cat brought in action figures, for Michael, five of them I think, I can’t remember what they were, he wanted action figures.  Norma wanted a robe, we got that from Sra. Maturen, I’ll explain how later courtesy, again, of Katie.  Also bought from Sra. Maturen by Katie was a vest that we’re gonna give to Michael I think.

The class’s family consists of a pair of parents, neither of whom asked for anything, and their four daughters a 2-year-old (Daysy), a 4-year-old, a 9-year-old (Esmeralda), and a 12-year-old (Yadira).  So far, three boys contributed money, two of them (Stephen and Ian) putting their money together to purchase a $2 barbie for the 4-year-old while the third (David) spend $5 for a more expensive barbie doll for 9-year-old.

Sra. Maturen told us that she and her mother-in-law went out shopping and spent around $150 buying stuff for us to buy back from Sra. Maturen for our families.  The amount of stuff they bought filled a van top to bottom.  She said nothing cost more than about $8.  On Monday her mother-in-law will be bringing in the rest of the bags, Sra. Maturen brought in one of them, and they will be showing the stuff and selling it.

Now, per teacher, there are only 20 slots available on the buses. This is because, they’re renting two buses, I think, and half of each will be filled, floor to ceiling, with presents.  Since I don’t go to Plymouth until 5th hour, when I have Sra. Maturen, I asked around and found that Risti has French 2nd hour down the samll hall and floor that Sra. Maturen’s class is. Tomorrow I will give her my permission slip and my money, courtesy of Grandpa Gribble (I love you! Thank you so much!), and she’ll turn it in when she passes my class on her way to her class. I was so thankful that I gave her a hug online…lol…Oh, I’m so excited!  I wish I had lots of money to waste on these families! ^.^ But even though I don’t, there are many ways in which I can participate, like my donation of my cars, I’ll wrap presents too. I’m gonna be there to both represent the class and to represent my grou, Cat will also be there to represent the group, unfortunately Katie won’t be able to make it. Only about 6 people in my class asked for a permission slip, myself included.  Even if all of us had asked, there weren’t enough to go around, she had a limited amount left.
