Twilight the Movie

Ok, so I probably shouldn’t be writing about this until I’ve seen it.  And I’ll put up another post when I have seen it, but I just wanted to say that I’m not sure how well this is going to work out.  There are tons and tons and tons of old fans along with this year’s newest crop of fans who are expecting an enormously awesome movie.  Will it live up to expectations?  Probably not.  Will it totally and completely suck?  I certainly hope not.

My biggest issue is that I already know that the movie is going to be very different from the book. I don’t always understand why movies add scenes that weren’t in the book or take out important scenes that were in the book, and sometimes this habit of scene-changing ruins the movie, but it seems Twilight has followed this path.  It has added a scene that wasn’t in the book, although I read the reason why.  Can’t remember the reason now, but it seemed somewhat logical at the time.  The movie has also significantly changed several very key scenes from the book.  That makes me unhappy.  But I’ll deal.

Oh yes, I know all this due to the fact that I’ve been following the making of the movie and have seen clips of various scenes (not full scenes, mind you).  I’m still struggling to separate book from movie.  And this struggle may be the one thing that truly ruins the movie-going experience for me.  Hopefully, I succeed to some degree.

My other problem is that I’ve started to ‘over-analyze’ (as my friend Reesa likes to put it) everything I watch (or read).  So I’ll criticize movies as I’m watching them and decide I don’t like that movie when it could actually be pretty good.  Right now, ‘Heroes’ is falling out of my graces due to the fact that it’s become repetitive and hopeless.  I’ve had the latest episode on the DVR for two weeks and I still haven’t watched it.  Tomorrow another episode will air…I’m not sure what I’m going to do.  Will I watch them both or what?  Probably, just to get it out of the way.  My watching the show seems to signify liking for it, although at this point it disgusts me.  There are some interesting points that I had feeling would come about.  One character who was the evil person in the first two seasons is now good and the ‘real’ baddie has finally shown up.  Dad was right, this really is turning into just one huge soap opera that revolves around the Petrelli family…How annoying.
